Dear Parents, students and patrons of NPDW

After 65 years of dance excellence, Nancy Pattison is hanging up her dancing shoes for good and is retiring. The doors of Nancy Pattison’s Dance World will officially be closing June 28, 2019, bringing an end to an unprecedented legacy of dance.

Although we are saddened to close our doors to the public, we want to thank you for your continued support and commitment to NPDW over the years. Whether you have shared many years with us or just one, we are honoured that you chose us to be a part of your dance education.

We will greatly miss teaching your children, as they have had just as much an impact on us as we hope to have had on them. We hope you continue to keep the art of dance as a part of your life and cherish the memories you have made here at NPDW.

We have always taught the finest children in the world and will be forever grateful that you trusted us with your loved ones.

We wish you happiness, health and most of all love in the future.

Dancingly yours,

Nancy Pattison

  1. What a truly sad day for the dancing world. I will always cherish all of my memories as a student, an employee and hopefully a friend of this wonderful family, as you shuffle off to retirement I wish you all the best.

    • Congratulations on your well deserved retirement. Our family is very sad to hear that you will be closing as I took lessons as a child, my daughter Hannah took lessons for 15 years and was looking forward to sending my 2 year old granddaughter in another year or two. The love, care and quality of dance Nancy Pattison’s Dance World provided was unprecedented. Thank you for all you have done for our community. If you and your family receive even a small amount of the happiness you have given to children while dancing over the years, you will be richly rewarded.

      • Hello Sherry
Thank you so much for the lovely message. Looking forward to my retirement. I have already received so many riches in life thanks to all of you.

It was a place that encouraged me to set goals and to persevere to achieve them. It also set the stage for many lifelong lessons that have served me well over the years. It was a special place where I made friends, gained new family and always felt like i was coming home when I stopped in for a visit. I wish you all the best. Enjoy your retirement!

My family was part of the dance team and those years will always be a wonderful part of our lives. The recitals, the competitions and the pride in being involved with a family owned and run business. I wish you many years of enjoyment and health!

  21. Such a rush of emotions and memories fill my head as I read this post. Dave and I were among your first students as you started your school at the French Canadian Club. I remember the excitement we felt as we tried on our recital costumes (hand sewn by our parents and the beautiful Mrs Oshar). I remember the stage, the lights, the music….we felt like we were in Hollywood. I remember sneaking around the halls of Walkerville Collegiate after we were done our ‘numbers’. I remember the overwhelming nervousness as exam time approached. I remember your gentle teaching methods, your kindness and your radiant smile. What wonderful years those were; what confidence and poise you instilled in all of us.
Enjoy your retirement, Nancy. You’ve earned the relaxation that is about to come your way.
With fond memories and heartfelt thanks, Cathie Janisse (Austen).

    • Hello Cathie
Thank you so much for sharing your message. Mrs. Oshar, God Bless her and all the costumes she had to fix. Those are some awesome memories which I hold so dear to my heart. Hope you can join us for one of our final curtains May 26-27-28. All the best.

I’ve been trying to think about what best to write since hearing the news and I realized that the most important thing I want to say is THANK YOU!

Thank you Cindy and Nancy for providing me with my second home as a young dance; for teaching me the steps and grooming me into the teacher and choreographer I am today. I would have never had the wonderful professional career as a dancer without the my training at NPDW and my life would not have been as rich without you. I am saddened that my daughter Penelope will not be able to experience dance with you at your studio, but again I have to thank you for inspiring so many in our community to open studios of their own as your gift and love of dance lives on with them, and with me.

I wish you both the best in your retirement 💕

    Jocelyne Cranny (Levesque)
